Introduction
 
Dr. Steward Pickett, an ecologist at the Cary Institute of Ecosystem Studies, shares his perspectives on the Woodlawn High School Challenge in this 22 minute video. He first discusses his general approach to thinking about the school grounds as an ecosystem, and then goes into detail about the kinds of data he would want to have on hand in considering the land use decisions involved in the Challenge. Finally, he discusses the importance of considering broader areas and longer time frames, concluding with his aspirations for using ecological information in decisions such as the one facing Woodlawn.
