Long-term trends in nitrate leaching from urban forests and grasslands
Groffman, Peter

Abstract: The hydrologic loss (leaching) of nitrate is a key indicator of ecosystem function. Long-term comparison of leaching from a series of urban forest, rural forest and urban grassland (lawn) plots has been one of the signature long-term data sets collected by the Baltimore Ecosystem Study. In this talk I will review spatial and temporal patterns in leaching over a 13 year record and discuss the effects of climate and land use on these patterns.
