Communicating your research visually to the wired world

Abstract: I will present visualization tools such as Google Earth, ESRI Geographic Information Systems, and others currently available to the Long Term Ecological Research sites. I will discuss how to implement these technologies for the Baltimore Ecosystem Study, and the pros and cons for each. I will also introduce LTERmaps - an interactive web mapping application being developed collaboratively between the Baltimore Ecosystem Study, Maryland, Konza Prairie, Kansas, Bonanza Creek, Alaska, and the Andrews, Oregon LTER sites.
