An Eco-Hisory Timeline of the Gwynns Falls Trail
Melissa Koenig
This presentation will explain the process the author went through to write an eco-history timeline of nine of the thirty neighborhoods along the Gwynns Falls Trail on the west side of Baltimore. Both city defined neighborhoods and community statistical areas, created by the Baltimore Neighborhood Indictors Alliance, were used. The neighborhoods include Dickeyville, Edmondson Village, Greater Rosemont, Washington Village/Pigtown, Cherry Hill, and Federal Hill. Six factors were researched, demographics, economic structure, political structure, leisure and recreation, public health, and race, class, and religion. Each factor was examined by neighborhoods with the exception of public health which was studied on a citywide basis.
